Fuel Up to Play 60
Parents,
Don't forget to sign your child up for the free Fuel Up to Play 60 program. He/She will be able to track his/her daily food and activity in a fun way on the computer. It will help raise your child's awareness of their healthy eating and exercise habits. This is an important habit to start while they are young. They will earn prizes the more times they log on. This program is sponsored by the National Football League and the National State Dairy Council. You can sign up by going to www.FuelUptoPlay60.com
If you have any questions, contact Mrs. DeGraaff.
WHAT IS THE FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 PROGRAM?
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a free program sponsored by the National Football League and the Washington Dairy Council that encourages kids to eat healthier and be more active by tracking their food intake by food groups and activity levels. This helps raise their awareness about their activity level and what food groups they are eating from and/or missing from their daily diet.
HOW DOES THIS PROGRAM HELP MY CHILD?
By your child tracking their daily eating habits and activity levels, this gets kids motivated to think about what they are eating and what kinds of activites they are participating in. It also helps them get a better understanding of how things they do during the day is important to maintaning a healthy body (i.e. playing on the playground, helping with chores around the house.) Fuel Up to Play 60 helps get the kids excited by rewarding kids with incentives and prizes based on the number of times they continue to use the website.Healthy habits take time to develop. Kids are also rewarded randomly as well. Our goal is to encourage kids to eat healthy and get active.
CAN I JOIN TOO?
Yes. We also recommend that a student's entire family get involved. Prioritizing healthy eating and physical activity may contribute to your whole family's long-term health. Not only will you support their formation of a healthier lifestyle, but you may also form some new habits of your own along the way.
IS THERE A DEADLINE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS PROGRAM?
No, This program is ongoing which gives your child the tools to keep going in his/her understanding of nurtition and excersise.
HOW DOES THIS HELP CVG?
By participating in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, our school is eligible for the Nationally Competitive Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant. Last year, we applied for and recieved the grant which supplemented our PE program with instructional materials and equipment to enhance our bone health and nutrition units. We are applying for the grant again this year to continue to enrich our quality PE program. This year we are looking to supplement our nutrition and heart health units with hands - on materials(heart and lung models) that help our students understand the importance of healthy eating and excercise in connection with their heart.
