Frogtastic First Graders!
Pumpkin Day was a huge success! Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to make it so wonderful.
It is time to send the October Book It calendars back to school! All students who met the October reading goal will get a certificate for a free Pizza Hut personal pizza. This is a wonderful program. Parents, we make Book It a big deal in the first grade. There will be a special surprise for students who participate and meet the goals for all six months of Book It. The last month of Book It is March. With the expectation of reading 20 minutes, 5 days a week, I expect a high percentage of our students to enjoy free pizza and improve their reading skills! November Book It calendars have been sent home!
Students have done a fine job using number bonds to write addition sentences, and we have begun working on subtraction this week. Please continue practicing addition facts, number stories, and number bonds at home. Picture books are often a great resource for this. Students can look at the illustrations and tell a number story.
Veterans Day holiday is Friday, November 11th....no school.
Parent / teacher conferences are approaching quickly. Please remember to send back your yellow slip confirming your conference time. I look forward to meeting with each of you.
Thank you for sharing your child with me and the students in our class. What a great group of learners! As always, if you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. 575-7502.
